Obidient Movement Warns Against Tinubu's 5% Fuel Surcharge Proposal

The Obidient Movement has warned against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's proposed 5% fuel surcharge, stating it would further impoverish Nigerians already facing economic hardships. The group, supporting 2023 LP presidential candidate Peter Obi, criticized the plan, emphasizing its negative impact on the poor and vulnerable.

National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko cautioned against the policy, highlighting its potential to burden the citizens and push them deeper into poverty. The group urged the government to focus on expanding the tax base and imposing progressive taxes instead of introducing regressive measures like the fuel surcharge.
