Oceania Launches First Pro Football League with Eight Clubs for 2026 Season

Oceania introduced its first-ever professional football league with eight clubs selected to participate. The Oceanian Professional Football League aims to promote the sport in the Pacific region and serve as a pathway to the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.

The inaugural season will feature teams from seven nations, including Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Vanuatu, New Zealand, and Australia. The league, set to start in May 2026, will see clubs competing in two groups with a total of at least 17 matches.

The top teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, with the best team from the lower bracket also earning a playoff spot.
