Ogah Refutes Genocide Claims Against Ebonyi Governor

Chinedu Ogah, a member of the Ebonyi State House of Representatives representing Ezza South/Ikwuato Federal Constituency, dismissed allegations of genocide against Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as unfounded and misleading. The claims were made by human rights activist Joi Idam, who accused Nwifuru of committing genocide against the Amasiri community amid a protracted land dispute.

Ogah addressed journalists at a press conference, firmly refuting the allegations and calling for an apology to the people of Ebonyi State, labeling the accusations as inflammatory and capable of escalating tensions. He maintained that the claims were disconnected from reality, asserting that Governor Nwifuru has demonstrated commendable leadership in addressing insecurity and resolving community conflicts.

Ogah noted that the current administration has intervened significantly to restore peace in the affected areas and has established a panel to investigate the land dispute. He highlighted the imposition of a curfew as a necessary security measure and mentioned that 400 youths from Ebonyi are currently benefiting from overseas scholarships.
