Ogun State Awards N6.1bn Contract for Court Complex

The Ogun State Government has approved a contract valued at N6,118,098,154.70 for the construction of a Court of Appeal complex in Abeokuta. This decision was made during a state executive council meeting.

The complex will be built on a 2.6-hectare parcel of land adjacent to the existing state judiciary complex in Olipakala Village, Kobap Area, and is part of the government's efforts to improve access to justice by bringing appellate adjudication closer to the people of Ogun State. The current major appeals are being heard at the Ibadan Division of the Court of Appeal, which has created financial burdens for litigants and legal practitioners.

The new complex will include six duplexes for judicial officers and twenty bungalows for support staff, with operations expected to commence in May 2024. A groundbreaking ceremony for the complex is anticipated, with construction expected to be completed within twelve months.

The Ogun State Minister of Justice has reiterated the government's commitment to judicial sector reform and efficient service delivery.
