Ogun PDP Accuses TESCOM of Mobilizing Teachers for Meeting

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) of mobilizing public school teachers to attend a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi. The PDP's allegations, articulated in a statement by Media Aide Afolabi Orekoya, claim that a memo instructed teachers and head teachers to attend the meeting at the Alake Pavilion in Abeokuta on Monday.

The party alleged that the directive originated from TESCOM Chairman Biodun Sanyaolu and Alhaji Adeosun Tajudeen Adekunle, Chairman of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, under the instruction of the Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board. The PDP condemned this as an abuse of power and politicization of education.

In response, Sanyaolu denied the allegations, asserting that neither TESCOM nor the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board compelled teachers to attend, claiming the meeting was requested by the teachers' unions.
