Atiku Urges Tinubu to Address Nigeria's Economic Issues

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu for his focus on political opponents rather than addressing Nigeria's pressing economic and security challenges. In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku reacted to Tinubu's declaration on Tuesday about being ready to "wrestle his opponents to the finish." He described Tinubu's comments as a sign of desperation from a leader burdened by his administration's failures.

Atiku emphasized that instead of threatening political rivals, Tinubu should prioritize tackling inflation, food insecurity, unemployment, and the economic decline affecting millions of Nigerians. He characterized the President's remarks as indicative of a government seeking to distract from its poor performance, stating that "empty slogans cannot fill empty stomachs." Atiku concluded that Tinubu's greatest political challenge lies not with the opposition but with his own administration's record.
