Anambra Community Protests Environmental Degradation and Lack of Amenities Due to Oil Exploration

The community of David Chyddi Elek in Anambra State protested against Sterl Petroleum Energy Exploration Company and Speeco Community for neglecting their social responsibilities after 10 years of oil exploration. The community members highlighted the lack of basic amenities like roads, hospitals, electricity, and clean water.

Mr. Esumai Patrick Chukwudi expressed the community's grievances and demanded a halt to exploration activities.

Chief Akaka Damian Anigboso of Ogwu Ikpel Kingdom also lamented the negative impact of oil exploration on the community, comparing their situation to that of the Niger Delta region.
