Olawepo-Hashim Vows to Defend Multiparty Democracy Amidst Political Threats in Nigeria

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former presidential candidate, has expressed his commitment to defending multiparty democracy in Nigeria. He warned against the alleged efforts of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to stifle opposition politics and impose a civilian dictatorship.

Olawepo-Hashim criticized a Federal High Court ruling that halted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, describing it as part of a wider strategy to undermine multiparty democracy. He accused some within the PDP, including former governor Sule Lamido, of collaborating with the APC to frustrate opposition reform efforts.

Olawepo-Hashim pledged to rally genuine leaders to safeguard democratic values and resist any attempt to extinguish opposition politics in Nigeria.
