For foreign wives of Omani citizens, the government mandates prior ministerial approval of the marriage—though this does not apply retroactively to marriages contracted before the husband obtained Omani nationality.

The general naturalization track for unrelated foreigners sets a substantially higher bar: applicants require a minimum of twenty years of legal residency without extended absences, along with demonstrated financial stability, good moral character, and health status verification.
