Ondo State Government Deploys Swamp Buggy for Aircraft Crash

An ATR-42 aircraft with registration number NGR 931, belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, crashed in a swampy area opposite the Naval Base at Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, while on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos. As of Tuesday, evacuation efforts had not yet commenced.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Tob Loko, reported that the difficult terrain and limited equipment hindered the search and rescue operations. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa directed relevant ministries and agencies to mobilize resources for the operation.
Divers located the wreckage but could only retrieve some parts due to the inadequacy of the available boat. Consequently, a swamp buggy from the Ministry of Environment was deployed to facilitate access to the crash site and assist in pulling out the wreckage.
Loko expressed the gravity of the situation, stating it was a "very pathetic experience" that they did not pray for.
