Onuesoke Critiques Lavish Thanksgiving by Politicians

Chief Sunni Onuesoke, a businessman and former gubernatorial aspirant from Delta State, expressed his disapproval of the trend among newly-elected politicians to hold lavish thanksgiving ceremonies immediately following their electoral victories. Speaking to journalists in Warri, Onuesoke highlighted the ostentatious display of wealth during these events as insensitive, particularly in light of Nigeria's widespread economic challenges.

He argued that public office should be viewed as a service to the people rather than an occasion for self-congratulation. Onuesoke questioned the rationale behind such celebrations, suggesting that they detract from the real work of governance.

He emphasized that true thanksgiving should involve humility and a commitment to serving the electorate, rather than extravagant displays meant to impress the public.
