Operation Fansan Yamma Foils Arms Deal, Cattle Rustling

Operation Fansan Yamma, part of the Joint Task Force in North-West Nigeria, achieved significant success in disrupting criminal activities across Zamfara and Kaduna States. On June 5, 2026, troops intercepted a civilian vehicle at a checkpoint in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, leading to the recovery of a local fabric pistol, a magazine, and 1,000 rounds of ammunition concealed in a sack of millet.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Mustapha Abubakar, was arrested on the spot for his involvement in the illegal movement of arms and ammunition intended for terrorist elements operating in the region. Preliminary investigations indicated that Abubakar was en route to deliver the arms.

Additionally, on June 3, 2026, troops in Sector 1 of the operation foiled a cattle rustling attempt in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, following a distress call from herders. The troops engaged the criminals, who abandoned 53 stolen cattle, which were later returned to their owner.
