Osun Govt To Sack Monarch Jailed In US For Fraud

The Osun State government has announced plans to sack a monarch who was recently sentenced to 56 months in jail by a US District Judge for fraud. Oba Oloyede, 62, was convicted of conspiracy to exploit an emergency loan program designed to assist struggling businesses during the pandemic.

The monarch, who holds dual Nigerian citizenship and resides in Medina, Ohio, was also ordered to pay restitution. Oloyede, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud and tax fraud charges, was found to have misused federal stimulus funds for personal gain.

The US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio revealed that Oloyede had used his position as a tax preparer to carry out the scam. The Osun State government has decided to take action against the monarch following his conviction.
