Kingibe Critiques Treatment of Women in National Assembly

In an interview with Arise Television, Senator Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory in the National Assembly, raised concerns regarding the treatment of outspoken women lawmakers, who are often labeled as "troublesome." She highlighted the inadequacy of the current representation of women in the Senate, noting that the reduction of special seats for women to six does not address the underlying issues of male dominance in the legislative body. Kingibe lamented that without deliberate measures to increase women's representation, the situation will remain unchanged.

When asked about the political climate in Nigeria, she indicated that it is not particularly welcoming to women, reinforcing the need for systemic changes to improve gender representation in politics.
