In Ijebuland, over 90 princes and princesses have been nominated for the prestigious Awujale of Ijebuland's stool, following the passing of the previous monarch. The nomination process has been described as a crucial step in the traditional process of selecting the next monarch, involving extensive consultations with the ruling house and kingmakers.
