Fayemi Honors Late Afenifere Leader Pa Fasoranti

Dr Kayode Fayemi, a former governor of Ekiti State and former chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, described the late Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of Afenifere, as a principled statesman whose integrity and wisdom earned him respect across political divides and generations. In a condolence statement, Fayemi noted that Fasoranti's death represents a significant loss to the Yoruba nation, Nigeria’s progressive political tradition, and the wider community.

He reflected on his personal relationship with Fasoranti, who was his former school principal, mentor, and father figure, emphasizing the elder statesman's guidance in leadership and public service. Fayemi highlighted Fasoranti's commitment to social justice, good governance, and the welfare of the Yoruba people, stating that he leaves behind a legacy of courage and integrity.

He urged those who shared Fasoranti’s convictions to preserve his values in Nigeria’s political landscape and extended condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure and Ondo State, Afenifere, and the Yoruba nation.
