PDP, ADC, LP Criticize APC Over Abba Yusuf's Defection in Kano State

The People's Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party (LP) have condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the defection of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to the APC. The PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, and ADC's counterpart, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticized Yusuf's move as a moral failure rather than a political strength.

The LP's interim National Chairman, Sen. Nenadi Usman, warned against equating high-profile defections with popular support, emphasizing the relevance of opposition parties in the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, APC's Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, described Yusuf's defection as a boost for the ruling party, highlighting its commitment to delivering democratic dividends. The defection comes amidst broader waves of defections to the APC, including from PDP governors and political heavyweights.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) supervised recent congress elections in Kano State, despite the political tensions. The opposition maintains that electoral outcomes are determined by voters, not defections, predicting stiff resistance for the APC in 2027.
