PDP Chieftain Kefa Ropshek Enters Plateau Governorship Race

Kefa Ropshek, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has indicated his interest in contesting for the governorship of Plateau State in the 2027 elections. He made this announcement during a gathering on Sunday, where he highlighted the urgent need to tackle insecurity and youth unemployment in the state.

Ropshek emphasized that addressing these issues is critical for the development of Plateau, which has faced recurring violence linked to communal tensions and land disputes, resulting in loss of lives and displacement of residents, particularly in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom local government areas. He stated that restoring safety across the state would be a top priority and that he would focus on community-driven security architectures involving traditional institutions and security agencies.

Additionally, Ropshek pledged to improve infrastructure and ensure equitable distribution of development projects, aiming to empower youth through skill development and support for small and medium enterprises. His statement reflects a strong desire for change among the people of Plateau State.
