PDP Crisis Deepens: National Chairman and Legal Adviser Clash in Court Over Representation

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) experiences a leadership crisis as its National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, and Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, openly clash in court over legal representation during a hearing to halt the party's national convention scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. The disagreement led to a temporary suspension of proceedings by Justice James Omotosho for reconciliation.

The court granted the application to join Damagum, Ali Odefa, and Emmanuel Ogidi as necessary parties in the case filed by aggrieved PDP members seeking to influence the party's leadership outcome. The plaintiffs, including PDP chairmen from Imo and Abia states, approached the court to stop the convention and the election of new national officers.

Key PDP officials, such as the National Secretary and National Organizing Secretary, are listed as defendants in the suit.
