River State Governor Defects from PDP to APC, Citing Lack of Support

River State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara disclosed his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) citing PDP's failure to support and protect him during political crises. Fubara sought federal government support and met with the President before making the switch.

His defection is expected to realign politics in River State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The move is significant for both parties and the political dynamics in the state.

The announcement was made during a stakeholder meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
