'People don’t respect women in the Industry' -Tems reveals

Nigerian Afropop star Tems spoke out about the lack of respect for women in the music industry during an interview with BBC Africa. She emphasized the need for women to drive change and be respected in the industry, highlighting the challenges female artists face.

Despite the global rise of male artists like Burna Boy and Davido, female performers like Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade continue to confront obstacles. Tems recently launched the Leading Vibe Initiative to empower young African women in music, offering workshops and masterclasses to enhance their skills.

She urged emerging artists to establish personal boundaries and remain authentic in their careers. Tems, who has collaborated with Beyoncé and Rihanna, hopes to reshape the perception of women in African music and create a path to success that commands respect.
