Umahi Claims Obi Not Superior, Igbo Presidency Not Due

Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, declared that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is not better than him. Speaking on Thursday in Benin City during the ‘Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road’ event, Umahi argued that their family backgrounds, intellectual capacities, and records of service are comparable.

He referred to comments made by an individual named Awuzi, who suggested that the Igbo were insulting Obi, stating that he does not believe any reasonable person would insult the former Anambra State governor. Umahi described Obi as “a lucky person” and questioned why those challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should expect silence from him and other administration members.

He asserted that it is not yet the turn of the Igbo to produce Nigeria's president, emphasizing that it is currently President Tinubu's turn. Umahi also addressed the state of the Benin-Asaba Road, noting the Federal Government's decision to intervene temporarily in its reconstruction.
