Dangote Refinery Leads Price War in Nigerian Fuel Market

Dangote Refinery and private fuel depots in Nigeria have initiated a price war by reducing petrol rates to secure market share and customer loyalty. Despite the government's plan to introduce a 15% import tariff on petrol, Dangote Refinery lowered its price to 828 per liter.

Other players like Aiteo, Bova, Eterna, Ardova, and Nipco followed suit with price adjustments. However, retail pump prices have not decreased, leading to uncertainties in the fuel market.

Energy experts caution against heavy reliance on imports to supplement local production.
