Nigeria Faces Petrol Scarcity Threat as Marketers Cite Supply Delays

A potential petrol scarcity crisis is looming in Nigeria as several fuel stations have reportedly stopped dispensing fuel due to delayed supply from Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Market sources indicate that over a million liters of premium motor spirit (PMS) have been paid for but not delivered, leading to concerns of a nationwide shortage.

Despite some licensed depots having petrol available for sale at higher prices, the situation remains critical as fresh import plans have been suspended in favor of awaiting deliveries from the refinery. The Nigerian midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority revealed consumption figures and highlighted challenges in the domestic distribution network.
