Phyna Defeats Nkechi Blessing in Celebrity Boxing Match

Josephina Otabor, known as Phyna, won against actress Nkechi Blessing in the first female celebrity boxing bout at the “Chaos in the Ring” event held in Lagos on October 1, 2026. In an interview with comedian Egungun, Phyna explained her strategic approach, stating she avoided a physical contest due to Nkechi's larger size.

She emphasized the importance of applying logic over brute strength, saying, “Everything is not by gra-gra.” Phyna trained for only 10 days before the fight, with her coach helping her develop boxing skills in that short time. She adapted her tactics after noticing Nkechi's unconventional stance, realizing her opponent intended to fight in a street-fight style.

Phyna expressed enjoyment during the bout, stating she had promised to outmaneuver Nkechi. When asked about a rematch, she declined, citing respect for Nkechi.

Phyna also mentioned other celebrities she would consider fighting, including Wathoni Anyansi and Etinosa Idemudia.
