NAAPE President Raises Concerns Over Abuse of Expatriate Quotas by Airlines in Nigeria

The President of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Comrade Galadima Abednego, expressed concerns over the abuse of expatriate quotas by airlines in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for airlines to sponsor specialized training for young professionals instead of poaching experienced personnel from one another.

Abednego criticized the overreliance on expatriates, particularly in the oil and gas sector, highlighting the threat it poses to succession planning. He commended efforts to establish a Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) facility in Nigeria by Air Peace, which would provide a platform for local engineers to gain practical experience.

The move aims to address the lack of exposure and training opportunities for young professionals in the aviation industry.
