Plateau State Government Shuts Basic Schools Over Security Concerns

The Plateau State Government has directed the immediate closure of basic schools across the state to address escalating security concerns. This decision, confirmed by Richard Jonah of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, aims to prevent potential threats following attacks in neighboring states.

The closure will be implemented in phases, with junior and model secondary schools closing on November 22, and primary and day schools on November 24. The government urges local authorities, school heads, and community leaders to maintain vigilance.

Recent incidents, including the abduction of students in Kebbi and Niger states, have prompted this proactive measure.
