Pope Leo XIV has appointed Nigerian-born Catholic priest Father Anthony Onyemuch Ekpo as the new Assessor for General Affairs at the Vatican Secretariat of State. Fr.

Ekpo, aged 44, has a background in academia and administration, having earned a Doctorate in Systematic Theology and Canon Law. He has previously served in various capacities within the Church, including as a Permanent Observer to UNESCO.

Fr. Ekpo's expertise and dedication to humanitarian and social justice issues have been recognized by the Vatican, leading to his latest elevation within the Church's central administration.
