Jorge Jesus Sets Conditions for Ronaldo's Portugal Return

Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus publicly addressed Cristiano Ronaldo's potential return to the national team after Portugal's 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway. Jesus clarified that Ronaldo remains eligible for selection as long as he plays regularly at the club level.

This statement came after Ronaldo left the Portugal camp early, leading to speculation about his future with the team. Jesus dismissed any notion that Ronaldo's status as a national icon would exempt him from standard selection criteria.

He indicated that a conversation with Ronaldo before the upcoming November Nations League fixtures would be beneficial. Notably, the match against Norway marked a significant moment in Ronaldo's international career, as it was the first time in 18 years he was included in a matchday squad without being used.

At 41, Ronaldo may need to accept a reduced role within the national setup, which could be challenging given his pursuit of 1,000 career goals.
