Tinubu Extends Tenures for Correctional and Immigration Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension for Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service. This decision, communicated through a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, follows a recommendation from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The extensions aim to address a succession gap within both services and provide the board sufficient time to appoint successors. Nwakuche's new tenure will conclude on May 26, 2028, while Nandap's will end on June 30, 2028.
Nwakuche was initially nominated for his position in December 2024, with Senate confirmation in March 2025. Nandap was nominated on February 21, 2024, and confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024.
President Tinubu commended both leaders for their reform efforts and urged them to build upon these achievements.
