Nigeria's Tax Reform Committee Clarifies Laws in Media Interaction

The Presidential Fiscal Policy Tax Reforms Committee held an interactive session with media and public analysts to clarify misconceptions about Nigeria's new tax reform law. Committee Chairman Taiwo Oyedele explained that the reform aims to benefit ordinary Nigerians, reduce tax burdens, and promote economic stability.

Key highlights of the new tax laws include exemptions for low-income earners and a progressive tax system where the top 3% contribute 25% of income. The reform also adjusts Value Added Tax (VAT) rates to create a more competitive tax system.

Oyedele emphasized the importance of accurate reporting to ensure public understanding and support for the reform.
