Nigeria vs Cameroon: WAFCON Quarter-Final Preview

Defending champions Nigeria will clash with Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday at 6pm local time (5pm GMT). This match will determine one of the semi-finalists and secure automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

This encounter marks the 14th meeting between the two teams in WAFCON history, with Nigeria winning nine matches, two on penalties, and Cameroon winning one, with one draw. Their previous quarter-final meeting occurred in 2022, where Nigeria triumphed 1-0 thanks to Rasheedat Ajibade’s goal.

Nigeria has scored nine goals in the current tournament but has conceded five, their highest in a single WAFCON edition. The Super Falcons are aiming for a record-extending 10th FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance and their 14th WAFCON semi-final.

Cameroon seeks their third World Cup appearance, having participated in 2015 and 2019.
