Yoruba Monarch Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran Dies

Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, a prominent Yoruba monarch, died on May 6, 2026. The Ijesa Community Development Association (ICDA) confirmed his death in a statement released on Wednesday.

The ICDA expressed deep grief, describing the late ruler as a respected custodian of tradition and a unifying figure across Ijesaland. His reign was characterized by wisdom, calm leadership, and a strong dedication to peace and community progress.

The ICDA noted that Oba Adediran played a significant role in preserving cultural heritage and provided steady leadership during challenging periods.
