Atiku's Aide Demands Clarity on Tinubu's Paris Activities

Paul Ibe, a media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, called on the Nigerian Presidency to publish details regarding President Bola Tinubu's substantive engagements during his extended stay in Paris. Ibe made this demand on Monday via a post on his X account, responding to the Presidency's explanation for Tinubu's prolonged absence from Nigeria.

Initially, the Presidency announced a three-week vacation for Tinubu on August 30, which was later extended by "a few days." Ibe emphasized that the issue was not about Tinubu's health but rather the lack of transparency regarding his activities abroad. He criticized the characterization of the President's stay as a "working vacation" without specific details of his engagements.

Ibe also questioned the relevance of the proposed $7 billion Ogun deep-seaport project, noting it was an agreement between the Ogun State Government and DP World, with Tinubu merely witnessing the signing. He rejected comparisons of Tinubu's absence from the UN General Assembly to those of other leaders, asserting that their circumstances were publicly explained.
