Qatar Sets Six Requirements for Family Residence Visa

Qatar's Ministry of Interior has published six conditions that foreign nationals, including Nigerians, must meet to obtain a family residence visa. This visa allows foreign nationals to sponsor relatives to live in Qatar.
Applicants must provide an attested work contract that specifies their profession and salary, as this will be assessed to ensure the sponsor can financially support their dependents. Additionally, proof of the family relationship through an attested certificate is required.
Adult applicants must also submit a good conduct certificate attested by the relevant authorities in their home country, which for Nigerians involves engaging with the Force and navigating a time-consuming attestation process. A mandatory test must be completed outside Qatar before the visa can be granted.
The Ministry reserves the right to impose additional conditions as necessary. The processing fee for the visa is set at QAR 200, approximately 74,000 Nigerian naira, subject to currency fluctuations.
Applicants are advised to prepare their documents well in advance.
