Nigerian Footballer Criticizes CAF Over Referee Appointment in AFCON Semifinal

Nigerian fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel slammed CAF for assigning Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi to officiate a Super Eagles semifinal match against Morocco. Osayi-Samuel criticized Ayi's handling of the game, citing wrong decisions that contributed to Nigeria's loss in the AFCON competition.

The match ended in a goalless draw during regular time, with Nigeria eventually losing 4-2 in a penalty shootout. Osayi-Samuel expressed frustration with the referee's performance, claiming that several incorrect decisions made the game harder for the players.

Despite the loss, Osayi-Samuel praised Nigeria's defense against Morocco. The Super Eagles will now focus on the third-place playoff against Egypt for a chance to win the bronze medal.
