Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, highlighted the importance of regional unity in reducing Africa's $120 billion annual hydrocarbon import costs. Speaking at the Africa Oil Week 2025 Ministerial CEO Leadership Forum, Lokpobiri emphasized the need for regional integration and standardized practices to address the continent's energy challenges.

He stressed that shared infrastructure and harmonized standards could help Africa secure its energy future and reduce capital flight from imports. Lokpobiri called for aligned regulatory frameworks and policies to attract investment in the energy sector, emphasizing the significance of stability and predictability for investors in African countries.
