Nigerian Spokesman Warns Against False Claims by US Lawmaker

Presidential spokesman, Onanuga, issued a stern warning to American lawmaker Senator Ted Cruz for spreading what he termed as malicious lies about Nigeria. Cruz had accused Nigerian officials of facilitating the mass murder of Christians by Islamist jihadists.

Onanuga condemned Cruz's statements and warned against propagating falsehoods about the country. Additionally, Onanuga criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan for reportedly considering contesting the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He accused opposition politicians of attempting to lure Jonathan into the race for personal, political, and religious reasons. Onanuga emphasized that Jonathan's potential candidacy would be judged by Nigerians.
