Rema’s Rave & Roses Breaks Records As First African Album To Reach Three Billion Spotify Streams

Nigerian artist Rema has made history with his debut album "Rave & Roses Ultra" becoming the first African project to surpass three billion streams on Spotify. The milestone was confirmed by a global music tracking platform on Thursday.

The success of the album can be attributed to the global hit "Calm Remix" featuring Selena Gomez, which alone contributed two billion streams across the original and remix versions. The remaining 20 tracks on the album collectively garnered nearly one billion streams.

This achievement solidifies Rema's position alongside Nigerian heavyweights Burna Boy, Wizkid, and CKay in Spotify's exclusive club. The album's fusion of Afrobeats, pop, and trap, along with strategic international collaborations, has propelled its worldwide appeal, making it the leading African album on Spotify.
