Renaissance Inaugurates Key Projects in Oil Spill-Affected Areas

On June 11, 2023, Renaissance Africa Energy Company inaugurated a series of community development projects in Rivers State, specifically targeting areas impacted by oil spills. The projects include a 200-seat ultra-modern town hall in Akpajo, a 12-classroom block at Agbonchia Secondary School, and the renovation of Aleto Secondary School, alongside the installation of ICT facilities.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Agbonchia Secondary School, with Mr. Igo Weli, Vice President of Renaissance, highlighting the collaborative efforts with local development organizations.

These initiatives stem from a memorandum of understanding signed with the Aleto clan on August 6, 2024, to implement six community development projects. Traditional ruler Royal Majesty Philip Obel emphasized the importance of these projects in strengthening relationships and addressing community needs.

He also urged the company to provide alternative potable water sources due to the impact of oil spills. Other local leaders, including Dr.

Aforji Igw Obei and Chief Obarilom Ollor, commended the company's efforts and called for continued engagement and support for the communities.
