Security expert Salihu Mahmud cautions that replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima with a Northern Christian candidate before the 2027 elections could create significant challenges for President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Trust TV, Mahmud emphasizes that such a swap could risk the established political network and voter base that is crucial for electoral success in Nigeria.

He notes that a new candidate may not have the broad support necessary outside their home region.
