Zamfara, Kwara, Benue Ranked Among Nigeria's Poorest States in New Report

Zamfara, Kwara, and Benue have been ranked among Nigeria's poorest states in a new performance review by the Good Governance Rating Index (GGRI). The report, released in London, assessed the states' leadership quality, service delivery, transparency, and more from 2023 to 2025.

Zamfara, Kwara, and Benue consistently fell below the national average across various indicators, showing weak leadership, poor policy choices, and lack of transparency. The GGRI report highlighted issues such as insecurity, corruption, and inadequate development agendas in these states.

Despite campaign promises, these states have struggled with challenges like banditry, mass abductions, and mismanagement of allocated funds for security.
