Imo State Land Dispute: Reps Halt Development, Disarm Armed Men

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has directed the cessation of all development activities on a disputed land parcel in Umundoche, Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo State. This decision follows a petition (No. 901 of 2026) filed by J.U.
Okoye Chambers against Prince Charles Amadi, Chikadibia Anyanwu, and Chidubem Nwosu, alleging illegal acquisition of over 2,500 hectares belonging to four villages. The petition includes serious allegations such as intimidation, shooting, attempted murder, and abuse of police powers.
The committee, chaired by Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus La’ori and represented by Hon. Matthew Nwogu, stated that no further actions should occur on the land until the matter is resolved. Additionally, the committee has ordered the disarmament of armed men in the community, as both the Department of State Services and the police denied supplying firearms to them.
The committee aims to prevent further escalation while examining the allegations.
