African Parliaments Enhance Oversight on Public Debts at Annual Conference in Abuja

The House of Representatives in Nigeria, alongside other African Parliaments, is focusing on enhancing oversight on public debts. Hon.

Bamidele Salam highlighted the importance of strengthening legislative oversight on public debt during a press briefing in Abuja. The 11th Annual Conference of the General Assembly of the West African Association of Public Account Committees will center on "Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight on Public Debt." The conference, scheduled for September 8th to 12th, 2025 in Abuja, aims to facilitate knowledge sharing among African nations to improve their oversight mechanisms.

Nigeria is set to host 300 participants from West Africa, Southern Africa, and East Africa to foster collaboration and learning opportunities.
