Nigerian House of Representatives Probes Excessive Tax Deductions and Bank Charges

The Nigerian House of Representatives has established a committee, led by Kelechi Nwogu and inaugurated by Speaker Tajudeen Abba, to probe the surge in complaints regarding excessive tax deductions and unclear bank charges faced by civil and public servants. The committee will engage with relevant bodies, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), to review concerns and recommend reforms to address the issue.

Speaker Abba emphasized the committee's commitment to protecting citizens from unfair financial practices and restoring trust in financial institutions. The investigation aims to identify irregularities and propose necessary actions to rectify the situation.
