Nigerian Lawmakers Approve Increase in Campaign Spending Limits for 2027 Elections

The Nigerian House of Representatives has taken a significant political action by approving a major upward review of campaign spending limits for the 2027 general elections. The amendments to the Electoral Act include increasing the maximum amount candidates can spend on their campaigns, with ceilings raised for different political positions.

The move also involves a substantial increase in the maximum amount of individual and entity donations to candidates. The decision aims to enhance the electoral process and allow for more financial flexibility in campaigning.
