KEDCO Workers Suspend Strike, Businesses Count Losses in Kano

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) workers, under the NUEE and SSAEAC unions, suspended a 48-hour strike, impacting businesses and residents in Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states. The strike led to power outages, affecting various businesses like shops, salons, and bars.

Losses estimated at N100 million daily were incurred by KEDCO during the strike. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), and Future Energy Africa (FEA) intervened to facilitate negotiations between the management and workers, resulting in the suspension of the strike.

KEDCO's management acknowledged the role of key stakeholders in achieving a resolution. The strike's suspension brought relief to businesses and residents reliant on electricity services.
