River State Governor Yet to Receive Impeachment Notice Amid Political Tensions

River State Governor Fubara is yet to receive formal notice of impeachment three days after the State House of Assembly began impeachment proceedings against Deputy Professor Ngozi Odu for alleged gross misconduct. The Speaker of the House initiated the process, but as of Monday, there has been no official communication received by the governor.

Tensions within the pro-Wike camp are evident as two lawmakers reportedly withdrew support for the impeachment effort, urging colleagues to suspend the process. Calls for restraint and a human approach to resolving the political crisis have been made by minor leader Sylvanu Nwankwo and member Peter Abbei.

Governor Wike concluded a tour of local government areas before departing for Abuja.
