Rivers Assembly Investigates PAMO University Funding

The Rivers State House of Assembly has established an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate the funds allocated by the state government to PAMO University of Medical Sciences since its inception in 2017. This decision was made by the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, in accordance with Section 128 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

The committee, chaired by Dumle Maol and comprising six other members—Silvanus Nwankwo, Lemchi Nyeche, Henrietta Loolo, Peter Abbey, Napoleon Ukalikpe, and Emilia Amadi—will examine the total financial contributions made by the Rivers State Government to the university and evaluate whether these funds were utilized appropriately. Additionally, the committee will investigate the number and identities of beneficiaries of the university’s scholarship scheme.

This inquiry follows the House's refusal to approve a six billion naira allocation to PAMO University in the 2026 budget. The committee is expected to submit its findings to the House on or before September 30, 2026.
