Rivers Governor Defects to APC, Aligns with Tinubu in Major Political Shift

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a stakeholders' meeting in Port Harcourt. Fubara cited his desire to align fully with President Bola Tinubu and support his leadership.

This defection adds to the growing list of PDP governors crossing over to the APC. The political tension in Rivers State escalated earlier when President Tinubu declared a state of emergency following disputes between the governor and members of the State House of Assembly.

Fubara's suspension was subsequently lifted after six months.
